Spectacular Conjunction
A three-way conjunction of Venus, Jupiter and the crescent Moon on November 30, 2008 as seen from the Southern Oregon Coast south of Port Orford, with a silhouetted sea stack in the foreground. .
The planets were enhanced with Photoshop CS3 but are in their exact locations.
Nikon D700 w/ 50mm f/1.7 lens. 1/50th, f/3.5, ISO800

Fascinating! I was out on the same night trying to get a similar shot to no avail because of the clouds. There was a night last week that also included Mercury… again, I couldn’t get the shot because of overcast. Thanks for sharing this wonderful photograph, Randy!

Thank you Sheri! You are so kind! It WAS exciting to witness this, although I was still seeing spots from photographing the sunset shortly before this, and had to hold one eye shut. Maybe I should carry an eye patch :-)
