Dead Sea Scrolls

Dead Sea Scrolls

Essence or the Essene
My soul bound
In a jar to be seen

Hidden in the ground
A word kept clean
Lost to later be found

Khirbet Qumran by the sea
Dead waters to hide my name
Jars shattered scrolls to free

All undone and raised to blame
Prophecy all gone and what to be
False prophet false witness to shame

All I am bound to a soul
Locked set free a shattered jar
Confirmation and denial in a scroll

The Truth hidden is never far
And a lie never the whole
Bright dawning a new bright star

The bad priest in scrolls is found
Hidden in time in a deserts hole
Essence of the Word in Hallowed Ground

All word confirmed unedited in a scroll
The ancient of days are now found
Word to condemn and destroy my soul.

Artist's Description

I am sure I wrote this before. Then I was told I would write it…

I was given a copy of the Dead Sea Scrolls, a new translation, Michael Wise, Martin Abegg, JR & Edward Cook ..Hodder & Stoughton 1997 edition.. years ago. One of the bonuses of living in a town thats’ main industry is printing..
I haven’t read it all, and have only taken in a bit of it, but what I have found is it confirms a lot of the Old Testiment, and some of the new. It refers to the bad priest and the false profit. It also makes great pains to affirm the sin of false witness. Maybe some politicians should read it..
