Thoth - Sacred Ibis
T-Shirt Design.
Thoth ( Djeheuty ) – Egyptian Moon – god presiding over scribes and knowledge.
Thoth was represented in two forms, the Sacred Ibis, and the Baboon ( Papio Cynocephalus ).
Lord of the Sacred Word, Thoth was followed by the Scribes. Thoth was the embodiment of all scientific and literary attainments, and commanded all “the Sacred books in the house of Life”, which was a revered resource centre accessible only to scribes. The magician Djedi, had wisdom transmitted to them by Thoth, and they know the number of the secret chambers in the sanctuary of Thoth.
A scribe was meant to be impartial and his integrity was beyond question. They were known as “straight and true” like Thoth.
Some say that the commandment given to Moses, that though shall not bare false witness against they neighbour had its’ roots in the myth of Thoth, and the belief that all truth must be known and never distorted.
