Firefly

We crave to let go of the outside world,
and in this slight black box
we’ve found it.
When it rains it pours and we remain for the rainbow
that we create in the space full of fireflies.
The lights drop all around us
beginning to end,
and it is quixotic in all the wrong reasons.
We hold the lights up to our skin,
feeling the rush that only art can fabricate.
I know you’re not the style for romance,
or the one who considers they will fall in love.
That every day is just another way
of living until you are done.
For still in the darkness,
as the shades began to change,
you told me to be careful of the mirrors.

Leave it to you to point out the being
that makes this whole room an illusion.
