A view of Dellinger Grist Mill in the mountains of North Carolina. The mill, established in 1867, is owned and operated by the great grandson of the original owner, Reuben Dellinger, and has been grinding corn into meal and grits for over 140 years using the water power of the nearby stream.
I was fortunate to meet the current owner, Jack Dellinger, who was very knowledgeable and willing to share his knowledge about the history of the mill, the mechanics of operating it, and the Blue Ridge mountain area in general.
