An evening view from the Blue Ridge Parkway in the North Carolina. This view is from an overlook between Asheville and Spruce Pine. The ridges on the left side of the photo lead up to nearby Mt. Mitchell and Mt. Mitchell State Park, the highest peak east of the Mississippi River in North America.
The 469 mile long Blue Ridge Parkway is part of the U.S. National Park System and extends from N.C. through Virginia. It celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2010.
