Cattle grazing near barn and river in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Creston, North Carolina (NW corner of the state). The hillsides are covered with well worn paths where cows and sheep have walked and grazed for over two hundred years.

Thank you, mickspxphotos. This was in a beautiful area where there were many interesting farms. There were quite a few Christmas tree farms in the area too.
love the way you draw the eye up through the picture, well composed
THank you ,clickinhistory, for your kind comments. THis was a very interesting mountain area with many old farms and lovely countryside.
What could be prettier?!!! You are SO close!. :) xx
THanks, Elaine. You are right-that area isn’t too far from you either. I was quite near the NC/TN border.
Wow! Looks like there is an Amish Quilt hanging on the side of the barn. You find such beautiful scenes of farm life. Very nice image Jane.
Thank you, Lolabud. Is interesting that you mentioned about the Amish Looking “quilt” on the barn. I have seen several barns with them this fall. Your comment prompted me to do a little research on INternet. There is a Western North Carolina Barn Quilt project which involves NC Arts Council and some grants. I had heard of it before but thought it was about real quilts. However, when I read more, I learned that it involves doing paintings based on quilt designs, like this one, to hang on barn walls.
Beautiful shot Jane, very well done!!
Thank you, Grumpy02. Glad you enjoyed this one. I was happy to see that there were quite a few interesting farm scenes in that area (near Boone, NC).
Beautiful, Jane. It’s so clear and sharp the deatil is astounding.
Thank you CraigsMom. I did a smart thing and bought a “Backroad NC” map so maybe I won’t get lost any more when the dogs and I go out on these little day trips to explore with the camera!!!!
Lovely capture Jane well done!
Thank you ,TracyD. I hope to go back to this area soon and photograph some more as it is a lovely farming area.
What a fabulous scene! gorgeous capture!!!
Thank you very much, cherylc1. I hope to go back up there in the next few days and take some more photos. It was starting to snow hard there so I decided I had better not stay long or I might end up spending the night in the barn!
Nice one Jane, paints a real picture for me of the other side of the world.
Thank you very much Nick! Your comment is really thought provoking and a good goal to work toward-ie. try to photograph a scene so that someone on the other side of the world can get a pretty accurate sense of what the scene and setting is really like.
Jane, This is such a peaceful picture. It would make a great jigsaw puzzle don’t you think? Very nice.
Thank you, Donna. Hadn’t thought about it, but you are right. Would make a nice jigsaw puzzle that would take me a long time to put together since there would be so many similar grass and sky pieces. (-:
