Mountain Bog

Mountain Bog

Mountain bog on the Blue RIdge Parkway near Linville, North Carolina. This photo was taken late in the afternoon. When I started photographing it was very dark and foggy. It began raining and the camera got wet. I was getting ready to drive away but then the fog began to lift and the sun almost came out. I hopped out of the car and took a few more pictures. About 10 minutes later the dark skies, fog, and rain reappeared. Nikon D50
The photo shown below, “A Hint of Red” was taken of the same bog but in early Fall.

Wow..this is tremendous…I never knew this was around. I might try to camp out their this weekend if I knew where it was…there mght be a dusting or two of snow tomorrow night. Can
talk you into where this is? :)

  • Jane Best replied

I am hearing that there is a winter storm in that area now so a good time to be getting lots of snow pictures. It is about 1/2 way betw Linville Falls and Linn Cove Viaduct on Parkway. Heading N, it is on R side of Parkway. Hope to see some more of your lovely snow scenes on your site.

  • Jane Best replied

Quite a contrast in this scene from your earlier version a touch of red Jane, but it’s still a beautiful image and great to see it during a different Season, it might be interesting to get a similar composition in all four Seasons and make a collage out of them, excellent work,
    Regards, Rod.

  • Jane Best replied

Thank you for commenting, Rod. Am glad you noticed the contrast between the two seasons of this scene. I thought it was interesting to go back and compare the two and decided that it would be fun to go back in early Spring (April there) and take another photo. I hadn’t thought about a four season collage but that is a wonderful idea. Thanks and thanks for your kind compliment.
