Joanne Bradley
Gorgeous scenery! Love the contrast between that cool mountain ridge and the richer deeper colors of the valley!
Jane Best replied
Thank you, Joanne. I guess the valley hadn’t lost the Autumn color completely like the mountain range had.
ckeefer
One of my favorite places to paint, Jane you have captured it beautifully on this cold winter day! What another great photo filled with such mood!
Jane Best replied
Thank you Ckeefer! Thank you too for introducing me to this area and having a plein air session here. Am glad you joined Red Bubble and hope you will post some of your beautiful landscape paintings.
NautilusBlue
Beautiful image Jane. I always wondered what the Blue Ridge Mountains look like
Jane Best replied
Thank you, NautilusBlue!!! Hope you will visit the Blue Ridge Mountains some day. There is a lovely and scenic road that goes through them for maybe 350 mi or so called the Blue Ridge Parkway. The road has a speed limit of about 45 mph and no billboards or commercial trucks. It is very popular for tourists and sightseers.
PS-I found that I posted this as an add comment rather than reply to sender so sorry it is a little late getting to you.

Having been born and raised in SW Virginia, one of the things I miss most are the Blue Ridge Mountains. You’ve captured them beautifully! :) Karen

- in the part of Indiana where I grew up it was fairly common for Amish and others to paint “hex” signs on the side of barns to ward off unwelcome “things” -daveJane Best replied
THese barn “guilts”/paintings have become popular in the North Carolina mountains in the last few years and the idea did originate from the Amish paintings in Indiana, OH, and PA.
DonnaMoore
You are very good at what you do…This setting looking out towards the mountains is beautliful.
Jane Best replied
Thank you, Donna! It hasn’t been winter here for very long, but I am already tired of it and ready to see Spring colors!

You need to keep shooting, as you do the “greatest” work, and have such a great eye! I just don’t see what others so…and that is one of my faults!!! Among many… :)

Lois Bryan
Jane, this is lovely!!!!!! Wonderful detail and rich color … it reminds me of our own Laurel Highlands … how the weather can be so different up on the mountain … great capture!!!!
Jane Best replied about 1 month ago
Thank you Lois. The weather can be great in the valleys and 10-15 degrees lower temperature a few miles up on the mountains. On a clear day, the Blue Ridge Parkway can be seen along the ridges of those mountains.
