Morning After
I was driving along a city street one morning and saw this lady who appeared to be just waking up after spending the night on the sidewalk.
Later, when I looked at the photo, it reminded me of a poem by Jennie Joseph called “When I am Old I Shall Wear Purple.”

Isn’t she strong and beautiful in her own way!
Jane Best replied
Thanks for your comment, jayview. Yes, she looks like a real “survivor.” WOnder what her story is/was.

Very evocative image. Just missing her red hat! :-)

Powerful portrait!

Thank you, Madge. It hit me as pretty powerful too. The pic was taken in New Orleans a few years before Katrina hit there and when Katrina hit, I wondered what had ever become of the lady

Also, makes one wonder what happened in this life that she ended up here, like this. No family?? No friends?? Rather sad.

Yes-I thought the same things-and very sad.
