Fun 'n the Sun by scallyart

Galahs, playing on the clothesline. The Galahs often came to play like this when it was about to rain or had just started to rain. They open their wings to catch the rain, hang upside down and suddenly drop off, and just generally have fun.

Watercolour on gessoed watercolour paper. 29″×21″

Great work , Captured just how those bloody galas would play up too

  • Yes. I used to sit out on the back verandah and watch them. Now that I have moved I have to watch them playing on the road, chasing stray bits of wheat to eat. Lots of them get hit by cars and trucks.

Ooh ooh! Love the fun and life of this (Galahs just have such a lot of fun in a flock don’t they!) Please consider adding this to the Wash Day group….we would love to see it there!

wonderful painting so like them. ….oh the white cockies are noisier though! felt sorry for people along the road a bit from our place on Monday holiday they were yelling and carrying on above their house in a tree at 5 am ! okay for me as I don’t sleep in …. whew! I didn’t hear any gunshots…!!!!

  • thanks. We have a small group of cockateels that have moved into our area over the last few years, and I have to agree they are more annoyinly noisy, with their screeching.

Fabulous work! They are such mischievious rascals aren’t they? You have captured them beautifully.

  • Thank you Lynda. Yes I love the galahs.

  • Also, I did not have any photo prints of these birds only video footage that I took, so took photo of the tv with video on pause as it was playing the clip and printed. Was not very clear, but that forced me into a looser style. Maybe I should work that way more often.
