Red fox hunting along the banks of the river Trent, Trentham, Staffordshire, UK.
Photographed at the end of a long day in September 2007, when I’d pretty much switched off; he suddenly appeared just a few metres away – and I quickly had to get switched on again.

    Spot on Steve,

    Like the vignette effect too,

    Dave

  • thanks Dave (I duplicated the image layer, made it darker, erased the area of interest with a big soft brush then tweaked it with the opacity slider – if you’re interested).

Now that’s the way to end a day!

  • certainly was Joyce, and I don’t think he ever actually saw me – in the sequence of shots he stops and stares before scuttling off, and when you look at his face he’s looking down and to the left of me, which is where my uncovered kit was – seems that’s what spooked him!

beautiful. Great detail and I love the “I’m concentrating” expression :)

  • he was definitely on the hunt – and probably less than four metres away when I got the shot!
