Tomorrow Fade Away

Tomorrow Fade Away

Nikon D200 with 18-200mm VR Nikkor Lens!

Homeless, forgotten and hopeless
one of the biggest problem in the country( (Indonesia)..perhaps it will never change..
thanks for looking..much appreciated

Ant
----------------

Crouched there on the sidewalk
wearing yesterdays rags
Johnny Hundredsoles sits
are you dreaming of days gone by ?
what do you see in your faded mind’s eye?
did you eschew life’s hopes?
or did they turn their backs on you?
were your dreams real
or were they shattered by the few
whose greedy mouths sucked you dry
until all we see is this husk
ready to be be blown away like dust
on the winds of self perpetuating lust
of money, fame and introversion
sitting on a concrete bed
pillowed by newsprint that nobody read
day flowing into day ….
no time to say ….
please stop
and pass the time of day ……

But it doesn’t mean it isn’t happening and you have brought it to attention, which is the best way to make any one sit up and listen. Great documentary Antoine, and a lovely pictorial element to it as well!

  • AQUALINA

    AQUALINA

    This image broke me.

I looked into his eyes and felt what it would be like to be him behind that glare and I felt the acusation, and guilt at my part in his plight.

I feel there is so much said in his eyes that no one has commented on, and that is the state of this mans soul, this is an actual person, and we are all discussing this and that about homelessness and picture quality etc, but look at him and the state of his spirit and being.
There is such a desolation and an anger that I also feel he would rip me apart rather than spend the time of day with me, and I can understand the reasons why. Still we consume him and discuss him for what he has become and not what he is…a human being. He sits amongst our images as we visually devour all things in this place, and him in the process, we are all guilty of putting him there and its all our responsiblity to do something about it.
So come on all lets not all just sit here in our comfort and record these things and feel like we are doing our part it. Raising awarness is an amazing thing, but sometimes it comes down just to helping out with the people in your own neighbourhood, getting involved.

Sorry this just really upset me. Antoine keep up the great work.

you’ve caught his humanity. this moment of his life will never come again. the thoughts he was thinking then will never be thought the same way in the same sequence as they were in this moment. in a heartbeat, in the click of your lens, you caught it. and because you caught i feel for him. i feel closer to this man i don’t know and probably wouldn’t have noticed if walking past him on the street, than i do colleagues i work with. for that i thank you.

I can’t go by this one…....the emotion it brings. That one person’s life of helplessness at the moment you took this photo can create such an overwhelming response in so many people! You are an awesome photographer and thank you for bringing this moment to the Bubblers here.

This image encapsulates the suffering and inhumanity we humans inflict on our own kind in a most stark and quietly terrifying way. Stark because abject poverty can be found in every corner of the world, yet quietly terrifying because most of us pretend it does not exist, and would walk by this scene without a second thought.
A most thought provoking image, and, I agree, one of your best works to date.

I agree with Davis Barnes – this could be a National Geographic cover, it’s easily that good. Such a powerful and emotive photograph should really not go unnoticed. Photographically excellent in every way, he totally suits the environment and shot at a low angle you get see his eyes. It is this that really gripped me Antoinne as you really feel his helplessness. I hope you submit this or somebody nominates this photograph in a large photographic competition, not in a frivolous way but so that this man’s plight may be elevated into people’s and particularly politicians conciousness and for others like him. It is actually hard to look at this man’s eyes, a very powerful and thought provoking image. First class Ant.

very emotive shot, and do you ever wonder if a person such as he, would except life in a better way? I often wonder if meekness and courage and strength doesnt become part of thier character for being in this situation and if they ever thought of leaving it behind. I think of hard times in my life and wonder about what i ahve learned from them, and i know i probably would trade in the hard time, but not what i ahve learned and gained on the inside.

The writing really empowers the capture as it all seems to be the order of society today, being
that a lot of people are so very greedy to take so much from others without returning anything
back to that person & or the society they & we live in.When they are finished taking & taking,
their cold personalities turn a blind eye to people & events as the one we see here.
Thankyou for sharing & reminding people through this capture & your powerfull words,
