Very strong image and I am now wondering what was the full story?
Hello Philip and thanks for comment……….to answer your question : Its a writer called Mireille Gealageas who wrote the story. So it all happens in the south of France around where I live (Mireille writes fictional stories about the area using some real people, even well known people). This painter called Bazille meets this beautiful young girl from the country using her as his model untill the day when he starts teaching her how to draw, of course this girl is happy and more than that she dreams of this man who will take her somewhere knew, she dreams of a love that will make her learn knew things and change. Of course the outcome is quite dramatic as Bazille doesn’t realise how much this young girl is taken by him and how he’s got her dreaming about things he will not give her….so she commits suicide one morning in that little village and he never knows about it……This painter really existed and the young girl is actually in one of his paintings so Mireille just wrote from that…and I made these paintings and drawings……..the story is in french….unfortunately…otherwise I would have sent it to you……kind regardssophia
Even for a painter understanding and communication are not always clear. Huh? Very sad story. Thanks for the reply much appreciated.
I think this is beautiful. And the circumstanceshave a dark beauty too…I will look into history around me more often and maybe find someone to paint.Im really touched by this xXx
Sophia..I know that Bazille died very young, he was only 29. It’s lovely that you remembered poor Anais – was that her real name? This is a wonderful piece, because we can’t understand the suffering the poor girl felt! Suicide is a personal choice…having experienced that in my own family. Certain people just can’t manage everything…bless her Sophia! And bless you, for thinking of her! I think this is a marvelous painting! Well done!Sx
Hi sophie….Nice of you to say all that…I fully agree about all you say and the story Mireille wrote was beautiful, she really gave life to this young girl….we don’t know the name of the girl on the painting as Bazille never wrote it….I guess the man didn’t think it was important enough and never fully realised how a young girl could be taken by him and go to such a point as to kill herself…some deep inner suffering…….All the images I produced for the story were full of that sense of loss and desperation. Have a glowing day….
