'Bar Harbor, From Cadillac Mountain' by

*This shot was taken 180 degrees from the orientation in Glacial Grafitti (looking north, from atop that chunk of granite)…that’s the small town of Bar Harbor, adjacent to the park (very cool town!)…note the long island in the center left, and the bar extending from shore to the island (‘Bar Island’, I think…) from which it gets its name…only exposed at low tide.
Cruise ships stop here, and take short sunset cruises…see Evening Cruise Out of Bar Harbor
A ferry to Nova Scotia also stops in Bar Harbor…
Damn, it was COLD and windy!!! Five layers and hat…had to blow it off after awhile…

Canon EOS T1i, Tamron 18-270mm (@about 100), auto, tripod
Cadillac mountain, Mt. Desert island, Maine US

~ use large view, please ~

thanks for the look, my friends!

Hmm I swear that Carnival ship was teh same one I shot at the Portland Head Light on the 12th!! How funny! Anyways great work!

  • oops! you may be right, was up there for Columbus Day and rest of that week, (forgot I left a week later than planned) this would have been the 15th, I left next day…was up there (Cadillac Mt.) three times, this taken last day (15th) cruise ships there all three days…here’s a closer shot, same ship, same day, 15x zoomhere is one taken from Schoodic Point (across the bay) of a different ship (different cruise line, I think) heading out for the evening cruise 10/14, I think…) sorry, had to check a calendar…that would make it just about right…a damn cold cruise!

    – Scott Bricker

  • checked my camera files…this pic was taken 10/15, the other ship (from Schoodic) was taken 10/11

    – Scott Bricker
