This is my first pose-able robot. At last I got this long involved process to work! It starts with the Groboto free down-loadable Poser template; comes with a tutorial that’s somewhat flawed, but enables you to use the primitive shapes in Groboto to snap in place on the template, that takes a while, then export that to Poser, I guess later versions are best. Then, you apply it to a Poser skeleton, or “bones”, then if all is well, you can apply any pose to your robot, then export THAT to Bryce or Vue, and put into a scene. Whew! I finally had to ask the Groboto forum what I was doing wrong, and finally got this to work. More to come!

    WOW!!!!!!! He’s fabulous!!!!

  • Many thanks for the huge WOW! You should see him when he’s made of clouds, or fire, or water or bricks… very eerie! Stay tuned, this was just the try-outs!

those robots are so sexy….i like it that they all have big smiles. They are very well groomed, and they pose like models—-THIS IS AMAZING, AND LOOKS AWESOME.

  • Next, girl robots and girl poses, evil robots, hero robots… hmmm, sounds like real life!

A pose-able robot….next thing you know you’ll have a house full of little pose-able robots running around the house begging for lubricant.
Pretty cool stuff you’ve created Mr Baker.

  • No dog robot, though, I’m tired of cleaning up little heaps of screws and washers… at least I got a magnet!

These are awesome Syd! Just what I had in mind for my next work too. Excellent work!

  • The process is tedious, but once you have saved it as a Poser model, then the hard part’s over and the fun begins!

Syd, you got it cracked dude – I love these robotic creatures!!!

  • This is a test, all the same guy, when you import this from Poser into Vue, you can have him all one mesh, like these, or individual meshes and assign different textures to different parts. Next, a girl!!

    Very Cool Syd.

  • Thanks X, you know how you can apply illogical textures in Bryce or Vue? You should see the robot made of liquid…

Well worth the effort! Great job!

  • Thank you Peter, it’s still a lengthy process, sort of like building a model with tweezers, but once it’s a Poser file, the rest is pure fun!

Amazing creation Syd!! Persistence pays off!!
Just hope Blue Man doesn’t become jealous that your time is being taken up by these “robots”!! :)

  • Thanks Keith, I thought of that, but somehow I think they’re going to be buddies… that is, unless an Evil Robot comes along, then Blue Man will have to put his trench coat and fedora back on, and he’ll need a faithful sidekick!
