We went on a school field trip to the 9000 foot level of Mauna Kea on the Big Island of Hawaii, USA. In the evenings they put out many telescopes anyone can use and this evening was far and away the best star gazing of my 54 years on this planet. I took this shot at about 8500 feet, as it was getting dark on the road up to the viewing area. Taken with a Canon 5d and a 75-300.

I have had a camera in my hand since the late sixties! Recently someone looked at a photo display I had in a coffee shop and got goose bumps. All I try to do is to capture various aspects of God’s amazing creation and let you also enjoy what I am seeing! If you get goose bumps, that’s great. But remember I only capture what he created. He creates, I capture, we enjoy.

    Fantastic shot Randy,

  • Thanks Ann, it was an amazing evening of star gazing. It was so clear I could see the Nebula in Orion with just binoculars! It made me think of Ps 8 When I consider the heavens, the work of your fingers…

Wonderful view Randy. Sounds like you had a great time.

  • Hi Jacqui. Too bad it was getting so dark when I finally got my camera out. I was driving a van with 15 people so I could not just stop to take photos. It was so clear that with only binocs I could see the nebula in the constellation Orion It was like the creative power of God on display for the 150 or so of us who were up there that night. I have a friend who has been there at least 10 times and he said that evening was the best he has ever seen the stars.

Because your work is so good..

  • Thanks much Lori, it is a bit of an effort to get up above the clouds, but it is always worth it!
