Taken at the Toronto Zoo in Ontario, Canada, during the summer of 2010. I captured this with my Canon 450D, using an ISO of 200, a focal length of 140mm, f/5.0 and a shutter speed of 1/125 of a second. Lightly edited using Lightroom 3.
The tiger, a member of the Felidae family, is native to much of eastern and southern Asia. Three of the nine subspecies of modern tiger have gone extinct, and the remaining six are classified as endangered, some critically so. The primary direct causes are destruction of habitat, fragmentation and hunting.
