Mall Walking In the Woods
After a 2 hour hike in Jackson Park forested area inside Atchison Kansas…I encountered at least 3 different groups of people…2 who were doing the ‘mall hiking’ and the 3rd with a baby in a stroller and 3 giggly women who squealed every few min’s at a bug/snake/weird plant/mud….....
Mall Walking In the Woods belongs to the following groups:
Live, Love, Dream: , Self as Other and United StatesOh you mall walkers
go back to you’re paved protected places
you who walk to look good
don’t know what around you IS good
you speed right thru
listening to you’re Ipods and headphones
talking on cell phones
ignoring the actual music and talk around you
Oh you mall walkers
something wild comes you’re way
you run and scream and stomp and yell
go back to you’re protected places
where you don’t have to worry about appreciating that which grows and thrives around you
you with you’re white tennies
you’re tiny clean clothes
you’re store bought tans
what do you HOPE to attract
Oh you mall walkers
Go
Go Away
Go away to you’re paved safe places
Leave the rest of us to ours!

AMEN! do u know how often…..i yell at people for throwing rocks/sticks…dirt clumps…....at harmless nature? or last summer when our ‘maintenance’ guys mowed down all the wild flowers in a local park because someone said they saw a snake…....sigh..........humans

AMEN sister! For all my scratch’s, bruises ,cuts, bites, rashs,...and stuff that I’ve aquired to get a shot or enjoy the woods….sitting on the forest floor, climbing under a tree..or up it…....wading into a pond, getting dirty, and loving every moment of it. Getting up before the sun to climb a trail to find the perfect spot to watch the sun come up over the trees…
Those “pretty posers” miss so much and look rather out of place in the woods dont they? Stop and smell the flowers, FEEL the earth ,listen to the birds ,see the woods… really SEE the woods!! You’ll be better for it I promise! lol!! :]
Have an awesome day Carla and thanks my friend for psoting this!!! :]

I think you must speak for so many people with this!... This is a great piece … I avoid malls, food courts etc as much as I can because they fill me with a rage and then I worry that I’ll end up warped from my rage. You’ve inspired me to take a walk through the lovely bushland near where I live at the next possible opportunity!

everytime my son and i step out into the woods or on any sort of trail…i see these kinds of people or the ‘results/remains’ of them.
once we get back into the ‘civilized’ part of my town i get all the stares…me in my hiking muddy boots, the retired military pants, the bandannas catching the sweat, my muddy dirty hands and sweat-stained face. i look right back with pride…knowing that i at least? enjoyed my day the NATURAL and free way.
thanx so much for the comment and for reading this!
