A first for me…………
Lately I’ve been making mushroom bells and wind chimes….when a friend came to the art studio with some awesome paint rollers. One had the pattern of Koi fish…and I was..er…hooked?
I’ve made a coffee cup and now this bell………….also used was the shell to a Ram’s Horn water snail and a golf ball. The rough textures is from the canvas that the clay was rolled out on.
There are approximately 4 glazes………but darned if I can think of the names. One is a mat brown…another is a mat green……….a 3rd was a turquoise and a 4th was an orange……….
All together….this has turned out to be one of my favorite ‘simple’ pieces I’ve made yet.
Finished on 4/11/12 using white clay

Amazing patterns and textures… it looks like an ancient artifact!

  • just what I love about these glazes!
The brown is a mat…so it’s not shiney. I put it on pretty heavy then wipe it off the higher spots….then adding the other colors lightly. I have a matching coffee cup that I’m working on making into a series. Love this pattern!
