Out hiking ‘my’ farm this past year…got my first ‘new to Kansas’ for the year (I only got 3) and new species find for ME . This is a type of fungi that grows on cow pucky or/and mulch. They look like TINY stars…about the size of the tip of a pencil eraser. When rain hits them…they POP. Literally. WITH sound. The little balls are full of their spore…so when the rain comes…it helps distribute them just like Puffball fungi.
