Artist's Description

My son saw this little bit of snakey just as I stepped over it………thank GOODNESS I didn’t step ON it!
This is a very young Midland Brown snake………completely harmless even when full grown……..measuring only about 12 inches when full grown (the Kansas variety that is…) The females are live-bearers…….so u can imagine just how tiny these would have to be for the mother to birth up to 31 babies…….
These do NOT have teeth OR fangs……..they eat insects…small aquatic life…worms……..their only known defence is a nasty smelling ooze they squirt out the anal area that will stink up a closed car faster then a child’s….um……..faster then a child.
