These amazing little golden trumpets are often found in HUGE clusters on dead or dying wood.
I got lucky this past spring to find these while out looking for morels…….which I only found 28 total of……………but sometimes it’s well worth sacraficing one thing in order to rejoice seeing another.
We’d had a heavy fog that morning and the dew left over still hung on the tiny cobwebs left by caterpillars and spiders. The white you see is the spore dropping out from the gills of these tiny mushrooms.
Luckily my little pocket camera, an Olympus IR-500, can fit right under the log these were growing on so I could get this shot. Each mushroom is about half the length of my pinky finger!
