Sneak Attack

...always watch behind you
you never know when it will happen
that sneak attack is always the least expected
i never thought to look behind me
until it was too late
and it had already happened

Lovely bits of web belonging to this tiny spider sneaking up on the over-sized grasshopper. Found on a walking trail from the Independence Creek Park in Kansas. I love how the red is starting to seap into the green…..almost like it’s creeping up as well.

Sneak Attack belongs to the following groups:

Green!

I’m not sure if this is a capture of over-confidence, unbelievable bravery, simple nature, or self-preservation because the grasshopper is eating the spider’s home! Whatever it is, it’s needs get into that group for “in The Moment” because this is one photograph few will ever see since few will ever capture it at THAT moment! Did you stay? Who ate who? Was there a big struggle in the web? And what web was used to catch such a relatively big and powerful bug since the grasshopper obviously wasn’t caught in it yet? You left us like THIS????

    lol…......ok…
The grasshopper jumped off after about 7 shots…....he’s munching in a field of mix weeds that’s mostly wild plantain….....the spider was actually? a bit closer towards me then really behind the grasshopper as i notice the web shows up between me and the hopper also?
soooo…the young hopper escaped after a short unpaid photos shoot…the arachnid didn’t get ANYTHING….and i walked away luckier then i thought i was. :o)

Thank you! Now I can sleep easy tonight!!! But can you imagine what sort of refrigerator that size of spider would have needed to preserve that much food – even if the spider’s poison has MSG in it??? :-D
