Missouri River

Missouri River by SauriaMami

Missouri River

a mile from my house…this is the overlook that i can see everyday.
the muddy Missouri River has several creeks just in my town alone that enter it…..at one time…durring the revolutionary war days….a minister who’d come to my town preaching freedom of slaves was tared and feathered…then stuck on a wooden raft and set onto the river. don’t know what happened to him? but…..couldn’t have been fun.
the Missouri river has been responsible for many unexpected drownings…..and my town alone has had so many issues with flooding each spring when the rains come.

Beautiful shot my friend.Lots of good catfishing in this river. It has what they call a white catfish and it’s the only place I ever seen them. Is’nt this the home of Tom Sawyer.I loved reading and watching those old stories.:)

we now? unfortunately have an asian carp that LOVES to jump in u’r boat…....over 6feet long…..that looks like a catfish without the whiskers. not very good for eating i hear. lol …..the catfish here are AWESOME! and i LOVE to eat them (bad me)...i’ve caught madtoms/channel cats/bullheads and another who’s name i can’t think of….....my son and i found some babies swimming up a tributary not too far from a main creek outlet that joined into the river…very cool fish!

Let’s see,we have the Flathead and the Blue Cat .I have heard about those carp that was a bad mistake.I’ve also heard of a nasty predator fish in the Missouri River Basin can’t think of it’s name, but it has a mouth full of teeth. Was accidently released from some private fish tanks.I will try and find out for you.:)

hmmm…the only true teethy predator fish i see in this river is the gar. and THEY’RE not very fun to eat..being full of bones. a record size catfish was caught here a couple years ago…they tried to put it in a giant aquarium/sporting goods store but it didn’t survive after only a couple days. y can’t we just leave these amazing animals where they should be?

People are hard to figure. Those record catfish need to be left in the river for the future. They are not good to eat.Too oily, really fat.The gar is not the fish I was speaking of,but they do have a strip of tasty flesh down the center of their backbone.Hard to get at though.Have to know what your doing.Later my friend.:)
