Satta van Daal

Coburg, AUSTRALIA

When i was 9 I took a spot in the top three of the local bank’s children art comp’ for the third year in a row. At 13 I drew band logos onto my school bag and wanted to become a typographer, three years later I did a work experience with a sign writer. In 2003 I graduated with a Master in Design from Bauhaus University Weimar and shortly after moved from Germany to Melbourne where I was immediately infected by the local stencil fever.

Since then I have exhibited my art around Australia, Europe, America and Asia and have been published in an array of international and national magazines, books etc. In 2009 I quit my 9-5 job and established Sattastudio Design and have been enjoying my life as a freelance designer and artist since then.

Besides being a practising artist I have also poked my nose into the world of art and event management. In 2004 I initiated the Melbourne Stencil Festival and co-directed the highly successful event until 2007 (at that point it had become a touring show with festivals in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and in several locations in regional Victoria). During that time I also organised numerous other street art exhibitions and educational programs around Victoria.

1 year of Satta @ redbubble
It’s been a bit more than a year since I signed up to rb and uploaded my first designs and I am quite surprised with the results. Even though I haven’t been adding a hell lot of designs and haven’t done any monster promotion for my stuff on here I still have a pretty constant number of sales … more than 50 shirts with my designs and artworks where shipped into various corn…
