A Quiet Moment With Dad by Angie McC

Sitting on the patio in summer 2005 enjoying the warm evening summer sun and the gentle summer breeze my thoughts turned to God. I felt Him speaking through His creation, and this is what I penned following that beautiful summer evening.

A Quiet Moment With Dad.

I feel so near you, Heavenly Father; so near, that I can truly and reverently call you Dad and talk with you, like I am conversing with a friend sitting right next to me.
It is such a beautiful evening, and the sun is still beaming down, warming my face as I bathe in it’s final sunlight hours of today.
I feel like a sunflower, tall and willowy, stretching up towards the heat and soaking up the dazzling rays that the sun is pouring out on me.
I can feel that power of re-charge!
A gentle breeze teases my hair and cools me down, refreshing every part of my being.
My thoughts turn to You, Lord, who created the sun and the breeze for me to enjoy.
I recall that your Word says you are the Sun of Righteousness with healing in Your wings – and the wind of Your Spirit gently blows around and over me, refreshing and replenishing this tired vessel.
And then I think of how I would not be able to look at the sun with my naked eye, for surely I would be blinded!
Your Word tells me that Your glory is so bright I could not look on You and live!
But…this awesome Light will shine throughout the new heaven and the new earth when this old world has passed away, and there will be no need of sun or moon because this light that I cannot look on now, I will be able to gaze into and bathe in; for Your glory will be the Light and the Lamb it’s lamp.
Sin clearly cannot stay or be part of Your Light, Lord, for your light is pure and Holy.
Didn’t St John pen that you are the Light and the source of Life and that you bring life as the Light of the World to humanity?
Your light shines out into the darkness and the darkness will never be able to overcome it!
That’s how powerful You are, Father!
Your breeze breathes life into my soul.
The wind of Your Spirit re-vitalises my spirit. It empowers me to continue to do Your work, when I feel jaded and worn.
You give life.
Help me to be a light for you, that people around may see a glimpse of You in me – that the darkness they are surrounded by may be blown away by your Spirit so Your light can shine on their lives that they may know You.
You teach us lessons in simple and easy ways.
Thank you for the revelation you have given me; a revelation that all can share in.
You truly are an Awesome God.

Your work, is featured in Mustard Seeds~Your writing illustrates God as our Father who loves us. The world often sees a judgmental God who wants to send them to hell. But God is personal, and has intimate moments with His children. This piece has comforted me, remembering that God is my Father who will comfort me in the loss of my earthly father. YOUR WORK GLORIFIES GOD!

  • Matty, I am sincerely humbled by your comment. I do know about the loss of your dad, and I am encouraged that this piece of writing has comforted you , knowing that our Heavenly Dad is there for you. I really so appreciate this feature.
