Old bike

I like to walk
this path alone
Content one day
I’ll cease to roam
And when this old bike
I no longer ride
I’ll meet you
on the other side
Just past the hills
that I now see
is the water
that will be my peace
I walk alone
yet with you I’m free
I walk to you
but I walk for me
And I meet you on the journey
of an isolated road
I meet you as I wandered
and no longer felt alone
A road unto the ocean
as dry as the dust it is
I walk along a sunlit day
skin burnt by the heat
Blisters burst
and peel off my feet
My dress is torn
by the snatching trees
But of this
I am unaware
Because I’ll see you
when I’m over there
And feel freer
when I am where
you are
I want to be
where you are
