I picked this leaf up on one of my evening perambulations and instantly conceived an idea for a shoot. It was just a funny joke at first but the more I thought of it the more I wanted to do it. This old leaf not only provided a source of inspiration for me but also wonder. I went to get another one because this one is broken, but I couldn’t find the tree, somebody else had probably picked it up from further away and dropped it where I found it. It’s quite large and when I look at it I can imagine it growing finally to this size then drying out, dying and falling away. I still have it because it might come in handy for another shoot, but these kept natural things never last too long, they keep fading away and just fall apart. The nest I took a photo of previously has half the filling missing just a few months later. They are meant to fade and die. Made for eventual dissolution.
