Wild Feral Horse

PHOTOGRAPH: WILD FERAL HORSE OF ASSATEAGUE ISLAND, MARYLAND Assateague Island National Seashore and Assateague Island State Park were established in 1965 to preserve the 37 mile long barrier island and surrounding waters. It is located off the eastern coast of Maryland. Herds of wild feral horses, ponies, sika deer and whitetails are just a few of the wild animals living on this beautiful island. The wetlands provide refuge for an abundance of waterfowl. Dwarf pines, sand dunes, cacti, permisson trees, beaches and marshes provide the perfect habitat for the wildlife that call Assateague Island their home.
