Each Spring, when we finally get some sun, I get through a painting flowers phase :-)
I had huge peonies on my front yard and took a few reference pictures. I like peonies because they are not shy flowers, very exuberant.
Those ones were very pink but I added some orange on the painting to make it more dynamic.
This is acrylic on canvas, with a touch of dry pastel for some edges, the original is 30 × 30 inches.

I grew up in France but have been living in Canada for the last 12 years, I am currently located in North Vancouver and work from a studio on Pemberton Avenue.
I have two passions:
- Painting the effects of light with watercolor on paper through portraits and cityscapes

- Building complex textures and edges with acrylics and mixed media on canvas (http://www.mixed-media-paintings.com)

Yes, peonies are gorgeous flowers, although I was surprised they lasted only 2 days on my tree.

Congratulations on being featured :) These will look stunning on an otherwise bare wall :-))
Thanks, yes I am always picturing my paintings on a big bare white wall, because they are very colorful, that’s the way they look the best I think.
