Surfers in Tofino, mixed media on canvas by Sandrine Pelissier
This is a mixed media on canvas version of the watercolor I painted some time ago :
From a picture I took in Tofino Long beach ( Canada, British Columbia, Vancouver Island)
This time I used acrylics, dried pastels, oil pastels, inks, and encaustic.
All this with lots of layering and scrubbing.

Such a great beach composition! Reminds me of visiting Tofino – still haven’t done this……

This could be me and my old buddies except rarely did we wear full wet suits. With the exception of just a few winter months “Spring suits” were enough. Wonderful painting. (I might be a bit partial to the watercolour version.) But please understand that’s not a negative towards the mixed media version, as I truly like them both.
Thanks Jim, the Pacific is cold in Tofino so they will wear the full suit even in the summer months. I tried surfing once but found it very difficult :-)
Watercolors always seem to have a different light I found, than other media.

a beautiful composition and creation – the close-ups are an extra wonderful bonus I love them in their own right also
