Raspberry Beret, watercolor and mixed media on paper. by

In this watercolor, I am trying to go more towards an imaginative style with realistic portraits .These days, I am trying to avoid the comment I get sometimes which is that it will be difficult to sell a portrait if people are not related to the subject.
Anyway portraiture is what I like to do best.
I used some gouache in the background, the paper is hot press Arches 140 lb.

I grew up in France but have been living in Canada for the last 12 years, I am currently located in North Vancouver and work from a studio on Pemberton Avenue.

I have two passions:
- Painting the effects of light with watercolor on paper through portraits and cityscapes
( http://www.watercolorpainting.ca/ and http://www.yupopaperpainting.com/ )
- Building complex textures and edges with acrylics and mixed media on canvas (http://www.mixed-media-paintings.com)

I like the way the skin seems to glow. I know what you mean about portraiture- It’s what I love to do, but I’m still surprised (but very happy!) when I sell one to someone who’s not related to the subject.
