An 18 month old snow leopard. Melbourne Zoo.

These beautiful cats are are an endangered species. Human encroachment and over grazing by domestic livestock has damaged alpine growths which wild sheep and goats, the snow leopards main food, eat. With fewer and fewer wild goats/sheep to eat, leopards only recourse is to take domestic goats.

They are protected, but poachers kill them for the thick pelts, and for body parts for useless Asian ‘medicines’.
