I live in Braidwood NSW Australia. I am a self taught artist sculptor and photographer.
Lately I have been experimenting with Ecoprint plant dyeing on silk and wool. Surface printing on silk and wool fabric, with the ecoprint, is a very satisfying and eco friendly process, no toxic chemicals, just plants and water are used in this process, to produce exquisite colour and designs on the fabric, which is on silk and wool, very colourfast.
I photograph my work and use the designs in my digital art for layers and textures. I am also printing out my images of female forms on silk, and attatching them to the plant dyed wall hangings.
I have been inspired by the talented India Flint who has written a beautiful book on the process, called “Eco Colour”
Life in Braidwood our small Heritage listed country town is full and busy. I belong to the local arts group called BRAG, (Braidwood Regional Arts Group) We have a large number of artists, writers, poets, actors. musicians, and crafts people in our small town.
The ocean is 60kms away, beautiful forests are close by, the Shoalhaven River is an 8 kms drive, or bike ride. Nature is important to me in the creation of my art, so am lucky to live in such a beautiful area, and be inspired by my surroundings.
