Once housed art and crafts
Now hollowed reminder of the past
Color coded to forget
A life rich in elegance
I was inspired by my love for the Roycroft Inn to write this little poem. Built in 1895, the Roycroft Arts and Crafts Community had many buildings to house the artistic community and unfortunately a fire claimed one of the elegant buildings years ago and now lays in ruins. I have been creating art since I can remember. My earliest memory involves coloring books and paint by numbers; they both were like joy in a box.
In photography, I search for the nostalgia in things…a vintage feel…something to remind me of the “old days” when life was simpler. In my collage and painting, I seek images that are whimsical, provoking, or spiritual.
