    Did you colour the eye?

  • Sande Elkins

    Sande Elkins

No, I did enhance the color so that it would pop more but that one eye is quite a vivid blue in real life. Oddly, his other eye is brown.

This fellow’s name is Phantom and his owner, a young woman named Bailey, adores him. He’s a good horse.

A magnificant horse and capture my friend-brillant

  • Sande Elkins replied

Thank you so much Cheryl! You’re always so kind. Actually this is a correction. The owner’s mom is buying this print for her b’day and I found that there was a vast difference in brightness shown on my monitor and what I got when I printed so I went back to the RAW file…thank goodness I’d saved it!...and started over. Side by side, I’m much more pleased with this one and hope that they will be,too. This is my first sale of a big print-13×19-yeh!

Just sold a print of this one and I’m hoping I can please the buyer. Of course it was her complaint that it was too dark that got me to rework it in the first place so I should thank her….I won’t but I should-ha

Oh…so beautiful! This goes immediately into my cherished collection of favorites. I am almost finished with a 2009 cowboy/western art calendar. In it, I have an illustration of several wild mustangs from Nevada state. They are drinking water in the river.. If you add me to your watchlist, you’ll know when it’s uploaded to RedBubble. I hope that you enjoy viewing my portfolio as much as I enjoyed viewing yours. Wonderful work.

  • Sande Elkins replied

Thank you, Wildwings! I love your work; it is incredible! I’ve added you to my watchlist and can’t wait to see the calendar.

Amazing! Such a gorgeous horse I have a paint mare called Tilly, but she’s a bay breeding stock.
His eye is really amazing, stands out so well! Another lovely shot ;)

  • Sande Elkins replied

This horse is really oddly colored and he actually has one very bright blue eye and one brown! He is appropriately named Phantom.
He was the only one that I really managed to capture in the mist that morning because he ran back to wait on his old buddy. Sadly, the old fellow that he watched over so carefully passed away a few months after I took this. I wish I’d gotten a good shot of the two of them together.

    Oh, thats so sad!
I love any animals with blue eyes, especially horses. Phantom suits him ;)

Wow!! Love the steam and the shape of the neck. Shows the strength along with the steam. Powerful!!!
