Little Timbit was picked up stray and not claimed, so while at this shelter doing other business, I agreed to take him into rescue. He’s pretty darn cute and just loves everyone, so should be an easy placement. However pretty quickly his issue became apparent. He was not house-trained, and would pretty much shut down any time anything related to housetraining came up. Poop, pee, a leash, you name it. He clearly was with someone who doesn’t know how to housetrain, and who punished him heavily but with improper timing so that Tim never got why he was being punished – just learned that when there is poop or pee around or a leash comes out, he’s gonna get it. He actually rolls right over on his back in full defense scared position and often loses bladder control.
Other than that, Tim is a little joy. He did go on adoption, but the family changed their mind about wanting a dog and returned him after a day – no fault of his, he was perfect. His housetraining had come right along, but has been set back ever since. A second applicant looked good but she suddenly backed out; I suspect she had other applications in. So, Tim remains available for adoption. He has SO MUCH JOY to give and it’s pretty surprising that he’s still here at all, but he will find a committed forever home when it’s his time.
