Hidden Sanctum

Hidden Sanctum

Not really knowing what to expect, I bought a topographical map of the Great Otway Ranges and surrounding area in search of waterfalls. Little did I know but this region has nearly 200 waterfalls (most of them too hard to get to). I selected a half a dozen and spent the day hiking through forest to different places (my legs were killing at the end of the day). This water fall, Lower Kalimna Falls were close to my favourite because they fall over a rock shelf that is high enough to stand under.

Brilliant Sam. All of my waterfall shots are from the Otways taken on our recent trip to Vic. I discounted the upper/lower Kalimna falls because the return journey from the car was 8 km’s!!!!
Now you make me wish I had not been so lazy. Oh but my legs were knackered after visiting 7 waterfalls in 2 days!!
This pic of yours is composed fantastically and you have treated it like a pro. Well done.

Lower Kalimna are beautiful and your pano has framed them so well. Out of interest I’ve found 135 in the otways from scouring every map I can get my hands on but I know of a guy who has been systematically descending every river in the region from top to bottom and has documented every drop over 2m. He’s an old man now and has been doing it for something like 40 years which is pretty amazing (I think he’s found 200+). So far I’ve visited 59 doing some pretty detailed scrub investigation in the process, wonderful area hey.

I have visited these falls many times, and don’t have a photo as good as this. Haven’t been down there for a while, looks like another trip coming up.
