GG grandparents, circa 1880 Martinsville, Indiana by

My gg grandfather and gg grandmother. William Henry Harrison McCloud and Mary Applebay.
He served in the US Civil War enlisting at Indianapolis in 1861 in Company A. Thirty-third Indiana Infantry(Federal Army), under Captain Thomas Wellman for three years and served until honorably discharged September 19, 1864. He was in the Civil war with his three brothers which all came home. William H.H. married my great great grandmother Mary Applebay and they raised eight children in which my great grandfather Coleman was their third child. William H. H. died in 1913 when his horses became frightened after he had finished rolling a piece of ground and he was thrown to the ground.

Fantastic picture and story Sam – thank you for sharing :o)

  • Thank you Kira! Glad you liked it. He was named for a US President as his father was. William Henry Harrison and George Washingon. Guess they don’t do that much these days. :-)

    Great photo Sam !!! :D ♥

  • Thank you Evita! In my family I am known as the family picture collector. I have went to estate sales and often see pictures for sale…It always saddens me. I think surely someone in these families would want to keep these. Glad someone in my family did.
