I Believe in Tigers! T-Shirt

I Believe in Tigers!

Well what can I say – I do believe some days, and other days I just hope. The Tasmanian Tiger and his mates the Devils are fast becoming favourite subjects for me. It’s hard to resist creatures that have such a compelling back story – mystery, possible extinction, all contained in one little island biosphere.

I Believe in Tigers! belongs to the following groups:

Thanks Karin, and thanks also for the link – very interesting read, and glad to see they were not considered dangerous at one point. As you can see the one above is about as frightening as a marshmallow…

Hi samedog, we meet again. Another cool design. Not sure if I’m a believer but I just spent the weekend in the extreme wilderness of the lakes. In the absolute solitude you can’t help but wonder if they might be out there. At first light it’s beautiful & a little eerie. Cheers.

Morning Lenny – know exactly what you mean. Were you fishing up there or walking?

  • Lenny36

Pure relaxation, walking, snapping pix and I managed to drag my daughter away from her thesis for an hour and plonked her on a dirt bike in the mud. Then there’s eating of course…

  • samedog replied

Aaah yes Lenny – eating in Tassie in winter (actually any time of the year but at least at the moment I can claim that weight gain is all for added insulation). Glad you had a relaxing time, hope some of the pics make it on to RB maybe?

ahh this is so great!! the best tassie tiger i’ve ever seen…..... such a cool character i could see them on kids clothes too!

  • samedog replied

Cheers tbo – I see this one as more of a kids design, but until the bub gets kids sizes I figured the big people might enjoy wearing it. Or any over-size six year olds out there that happen to like Tassie Tigers…

I heard one only last week, screaming outside my house for about five minutes as it wandered past…happens often at this time of year….being mating season…
Still haven’t managed to get a photo though…..

  • samedog replied

Thanks Wendy – another believer! Keep trying for that pic…

Did I mention how much I love you avatar?! Hehe like those three legs and the long face. Hey I’m a tiger (born in 1986!). You’ve posted all these designs of your creatures with 3 legs, but how come you don’t post your avatar? I like that yo-yo nose!!

  • samedog replied

You never know Mui-Ling, the dog (he’s called Jake by the way) might pop up some time. I’ve just ordered a version of him on a T-shirt so I’ll see how he looks…if he behaves himself I might let him go public ;o)

The yo-yo is a reference to my childhood in a couple of ways:

    1. We (me and my two older brothers) used to love playing with yo-yos and doing all the tricks.

    2. There was a children’s TV show character here called Mr Squiggle – kids would send in random lines on a page and Mr Squiggle would turn the lines into a picture. One of his trademarks was that he always included a yo-yo somewhere in the drawing.

Now here’s a story for you if you believe in signs…not long after I joined Red Bubble I was having a bit of a crisis of confidence. I’d spent an afternoon working on a design that didn’t turn out the way I wanted it to and had all but convinced myself that I could never be as good as any of the artists on RB. I decided to go for a walk to get some fresh air and clear the head. I was sitting down at the river near where I live, looked up and saw a boy walking a little dog and playing with a yo-yo.

Probably just a coincidence, but a nice one nonetheless, and it was enough of a sign to convince me to keep trying.

THis i will buy when i can afford one, mate, opn my way to tassy in feb, will say hi to the tigers for you :) I can tell you that my brother in laws brother accidently shot a tiger in the 1950s on the west coast, by that stage they had been “extinct” for 20 years, so there is always hope…

yeah sometimes I wish that one would all of a sudden appear in front of me when I’m somewhere then I would whip out my camera and take a picture so that I could prove to eveyone that they really still do exist!!

  • samedog replied

Not sure if you read the story in the Weekend Muckury – there’s a bloke in Victoria that reckons he’s spotted them in the Gippsland region. If it turns out that there’s tigers in Victoria I’ll be strangely jealous.
