NO PULP MILL

For those of you who haven’t visited Tasmania, it is an island of great extremes – places of breathtaking beauty punctuated in places by scenes of man-made environmental devastation.

One of the more recent examples of the latter is the Tasmanian Government’s approval of construction of a pulp mill near the Tamar River in the north of Tasmania. Even though the project has been approved and site works have commenced, the fight to stop it goes on.

Some say the fight is futile, others remember that once upon a time, someone almost dammed the Franklin River…
