I Believe in Tigers!
Well what can I say – I do believe some days, and other days I just hope. The Tasmanian Tiger and his mates the Devils are fast becoming favourite subjects for me. It’s hard to resist creatures that have such a compelling back story – mystery, possible extinction, all contained in one little island biosphere.

Favourite subject for me too! I LOVE your artwork of these elusive but amazing creatures! Bravo!!!

Thanks Wendy. ABC Radio in Hobart had a programme devoted to Tiger Tales this morning – was great to hear stories from some of the old timers. Many of them used to refer to the Thylacine as hyenas apparently which I’ve never heard before today.

that is so interesting! The wierd thing is – they DO resemble hyenas, or maybe African hunting dogs, in their body shape….... especially when seen from a distance. Did you ever see an ABC program called Landline which aired on TV several years ago..they showed footage of Tandau station and this “creature of the desert” wandering into a watering hole. We fell apart laughing with shock and surprise as they had unwittingly filmed a thylacine and had no idea of it. Naturally, once something got said, the film has disappeared…...and no one can get a copy of it! but the creature that walked blatantly across the screen was very much like an african hunting dog or hyena…...lol….only we know better!!!

No, didn’t see that episode of Landline, but very intriguing…
I want to do some more research on the TT for various reasons, hoping to make some time to do that in 09.

seems to me, you need to find officials who are prepared to talk “unofficially” as there are always two different stories.
Good luck…
