You know that feeling – When the sun warms your skin..soaks your soul. That warm all over feeling, makes you feel alive. Sunset over the Thurra – Croajingolong National Park – 2010. The unpsoilt Thurra snakes around on its way to sea. Our camp sites sit to the left hidden amongst the trees. From where I am standing is the bridge that leads to the camping sites. About 400 metres behind me is the wild ocean. The Thurra occasionally opens up to the ocean depending on the tide. This trip saw it open naturally. Safe to swim in. The water is stained with tanins but perfectly clear and so soft. Home to eels, mullet, prawns, and the elusive platypus which has been seen only once by myself and very few others. At the top of the shot you can make out the giant dunes. Standing up to 300 metres high, they are great to run down or if you are so inclined, or cartwheel if you can! You finish the walk by using the river to come home with. I love it here.
