Female Bower Bird. Croajingolong National Park. Great colours and far more attractive than the male who was quite dull. First time I had seen them both and first time I had seen them at all. She had stunning indigo coloured eyes and olive feathers on her back. Thanks to Neil Swenser who edited this image for me to remove unsightly green rope from the back ground and improved her appearance for me. Thanks FB. :))

lovely capture salsbells. like the way she cocked her head to the side as if asked to pose or out of curiosity as to what you were up to. nice square crop too. cheers

  • Thankyou BB. Glad to see you here. :)))) She did just that..curiosity. I have another with her in this shot where she was looking straight out with her gorgeous eyes. But this one gave her character.

What a beauty, the way she is tilting her hear gives here a very whimsical look. Excellent framing

  • Cheers Bryon! I am thinking of putting up the other close up..the one where you see her magnificent eyes. But I liked the character in this shot. Thankyou :)))

wonderful pose….now how do you get these critters to strike these poses for you wahini………

  • Thankyou Kj. Well…the continuous shot button on my nikon gets a work out. This shot came about purely by not panicking. My camera was in the camera bag when she turned up at camp site. I grabbed it. Changed my macro lens to my other lens..held it up..was about 4 feet from her and just shot..she was gone in seconds. I was lucky. She was foraging for crumbs from the campsites..so I guess she was happy to have a little look first. But I never made any big movements etc..but still lucky all the same. Thanks for asking :)))
