Pt. Reyes Lighthouse by Sally Sargent

Currently unavailable for purchase

Available to buy on…

Halfway down the coastline of Point Reyes National Sea Shore on a rugged hill, stands the pt Reyes lighthouse. Looking south is the Marin Headlands and the entrance to the Golden Gate while just north juts Bodega head protecting the harbor of Bodega Bay. This watercolor is painted on arches 300 lb arches paper

When viewing a group of musicians or listening to music the musicians blend into their instruments for me and they sing as one.
In all of my work I have a fondness for bold color, clear values and wild texture.
My imagination works overtime. I hope you enjoy viewing my work.

Beautifully rendered, Sally. Love your soft touch with the brush, and your choice of palette.

  • Thanks, Bev, the persistent fog around the light really keeps all color pretty low key. sally

Thanks, Elizabeth, I caught your Pt Reyes story just before I had to go offline for a while so this is my chance to comment back. The Point Reyes National Seashore is a special place for anyone who sees it but it sounds like you and your husband had a very special day there, stairs and all. It is a tough one to paint because it’s halfway down the hill, but it’s the closest light to where I live in Sonoma County. I winter in Pacific Grove so the Pt. Pinos light is just down the street and much easier to paint. Thanks for your interest in all things seaworthy. S.

    Love it!

  • Thanks, Sue, Even our lighthouses are really different from one another’s. It is halfway down a hill so it has many stairs.
