Hollyhock
Watercolor, painted in a workshop instructed by artist Mary Gibbs.
Background is black acrylic ink.
A bit of colored pencil.

I remember making dolls out of them. Full skirts and hats, I believe. I can’t recall how it was done…but I bet our friend, Marsha Elliott does!!

When doing those ultra thin lines (like petal viens) the pencils are clearly a great solution Sally. Very beautifully painted Sally.

  • thank you, Jim. Have never used pencil b4 in a painting, but yes….much needed and helpful.

Nope, never did that, Sally, but we use to make little guns out of African Violets by twisting the stem a certain way & shooting the heads (violet blooms) at each other.

  • that just makes me grin all over!!!!
