Sally Hanreck
Profile
Largely self taught, I took up painting in 2006 when i enrolled in a visual arts course at Chisholm Institute.
What I try to attain through creativity is a sense of self, a way of communicating my ideas and emotions as eloquently and directly as possible.
Most of my work is extremely personal as I have drawn on life experience for inspiration. I don’t always know what I’m about to paint as I set up the canvass, I’ve never been one to plan ahead or make preparatory drawings, so the end result is often quite a surprise, even to me!
I also experiment with printmaking and photography, and have made a few sculptures over teh years, but painting has become my main interest and I hope to further my education and training in future.
So, what my art is about? I’m not entirely sure, to be honest!
self discovery, acceptance, meditation, healing, exploring emotions, story-telling, sharing my journey with others…..
making marks and moving paint about. It’s as simple and as complex as that.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my work.
