Wonga Wetlands, on the Murray River floodplain is being gently restored from grazing land using Albury City’s environmentally treated wastewater.

This is another absorbing natural conservation area featuring amazing 600year old Murray River Red Gums and an astonishing number of birds.

Albury’s Wonga Wetlands incorporate seven lagoons covering a surface area of about 80ha on the Murray River flood plain. Take a wander to Wonga if only for the picture perfect Murray landscape views.

    I agree mate the whole greater Albury-Wodonga area is a must for australian bush images and these two are just stuning

  • yes its a good central point where you can investigate thehigh country , historic towns like beechworth and yackandandah or food and wine areas like millawa king valley and rutherglen

    i stop in a basic hotel in town thats only $59.00 per night it comes in handy

  • there are quite a lot of trees with character at wonga , some set way out in the water serve as roosts for resident and migratory birds.

    The wetlands at dotted with bird hides, great spot if you have a long lens, even if you dont its quite relaxing sitting in the hide and watching the activity on the water, wonderful use of wate water from albury/wodonga
