Phillip, this is an outstanding image mate, the blending really made the colors for this one. I’ve got to say, I’m usually a bigger fan of landscape work with no man-made stuff, as I gather you are aswell, but the way the fog spans accross the city gives a bit of a makeshift horizon – it’s bloody awesome. Good work and cheers for your interest in mine!

Would be a good shot if it wasn’t HDR.
Philip Johnson 17 days ago
ahhh a hdr pesimist lol
rocamiadesign 16 days ago
I think the reason some people dislike HDR is the same that many don’t like fractal art: there is so much poorly done work out there. People don’t take the time necessary in postprocessing it. Great HDR, like this one, reminds me of Maxfield Parrish’s paintings. It shows the world the way we wish we could remember it.
Philip Johnson replied 16 days ago
I recentlty listened to a discussion on the critics of HDR, a comparison was made on how when new art tastes come through they are criticised by the purists.
The funny thing I have found and I have discussed this with Group hosts that censor HDR in their groups but accept “Heavily Photo Shopped images”
The fact that “tone mapping” which is the basis of HDR has been around since the late 1800’s, I have even heard Ansell Adams son say his dad tonemapped.
I find it funny that the critics of HDR, will say it’s false but then turn around and remove a sky from a image and put another in because it looks better. If you ask a good HDR photographer they will be aiming to get the image as close to the original view
rocamiadesign 15 days ago
I think that HDR is something that will become more accepted. People have a tendency to be rigid about any new thing. Digital art is still fighting against that prejudice and I imagine that it took a while for digital photography to be accepted.
